WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Arts in the Heart is a celebration of the multicultural pride in the West Sacramento community. Visitors to this free family-friendly event experience music and dance performances, visual art, and activities. There will also be community informational booths. 

At the event, attendees will have the opportunity to add a picture to commemorate a passed loved one to the Community Center’s altar for Día De Los Muertos. 

There will also be dance performances by multiple cultures. Light refreshments will be provided as well as free raffle prizes.

The event is set to take place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 10 at the West Sacramento Community Center, 1075 West Capitol Ave,

Día de los Muertos Community Altar

The Día de los Muertos community altar will be available weekdays at the Community Center through Friday, Nov. 4.

The purpose of the Community Altar is to highlight the diversity of our community and to honor the lives of those we've lost. In some cultures there are holidays that commemorate the dead with festivals and celebrations. We welcome the community to bring a copy of a photo of your lost loved ones to place on the altar, celebrate memories and share traditions.

Transportation & Parking

There is limited street parking along West Capitol Avenue. Visitors may use the City Hall and Community Center parking lots. Visitors are urged to use the crosswalks. The front entrance along West Capitol and Merkley is locked. Enter on the south side of the building, by the Community Center parking lot. 

For Community Center Parking: Turn onto Merkley Avenue and use the parking lot entrance at the Arthur F. Turner Yolo County Library. Continue through the parking lot. The Community Center parking lot will be on the right.
