SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) – The State Fair Junior Championship for boys and girls ages 7 to 18 was held Saturday, Aug. 26, at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. Players ages 12 to 18 competed on the Alister MacKenzie 18-hole course, while the 7 to 11 division played nine holes on Arcade Creek.

In the boys 14 to 18 division, Kees Hoogendyk captured the overall title with a 68 score in the boys 16 to 18 division.

In the girls 14 to 18 division, Melody Chen won the overall championship from the 14 to 15 division.

Other division highlights included boys 16 to 18 winner, Amani Asghar scored 70; girls 16 to 18 winner, Khloe Chao scored 73; boys 14 to 15 winner, Ricky Soe scored 71; and girls 14 to 15 winner, Elise Lim scored 74.

Boys 12 to 13 winner, Rishan Dey scored 71; girls 12 to 13 winner, Zoe Yu scored 73; boys 10 to 11 winner, Joseph Alastair scored 38, winning in a play-off against Carter Cedillo. And girls 10 to 11 winner, Livy Woodward scored 37.

Lastly, Boys 7 to 9 winner, Chung-Kuang Chang scored 36 and the girls 7 to 9 winner, Olivia Villajoaquin scored 37.

The tournament was hosted by the Sacramento Golf Council under the direction of Council President and Tournament Chairman Mark Perry.
