WOODLAND, CA (MPG) - The Yolo County Fair, California's longest-running free-gate fair, returns in 2026 with more days, more entertainment and more opportunities for families to celebrate the region's agricultural heritage.

For the first time in its history, the fair will span eight days over two weekends. An Outdoor Kickoff Weekend will run Friday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 9, followed by the traditional fair Wednesday, Aug. 12 through Sunday, Aug. 16. Admission to the fair, themed “Hog August Nights this year,” remains free.

“Five days just weren't enough to hold all the excitement,” Yolo County Fair CEO Sarah Pelle said. “By expanding to eight days, we're giving families more chances to enjoy the carnival, food, agriculture and entertainment they love while keeping our cherished tradition of free admission alive.”

The new opening weekend will feature headline arena concerts by country music stars Hunter Hayes and Chris Lane, corgi racing, livestock shows, a carnival midway, silent discos and live entertainment on multiple stages. The traditional five-day fair will bring the opening of the full Fair experience, including indoor exhibits, community competitions, youth livestock events, racing pigs, Kids Day, Senior and Special Friends Day, the Junior Rodeo, two nights of destruction derby action and Pura Lumbre Fest. 

Throughout both weekends, visitors can enjoy free admission, carnival rides and midway games, classic fair food, free live entertainment, livestock shows, agricultural and community exhibits and family attractions.

Save on carnival fun before the fair with presale coupons available for $30 each. Each coupon may be exchanged for one unlimited-ride wristband or a book of 30 ride tickets.
