WOODLAND, CA (MPG) -
The Yolo County Board of Supervisors approved a recruitment process and timeline for appointing a new Yolo County District Attorney following the retirement of District Attorney Jeff Reisig, effective May 15. Chief Deputy District Attorney Melinda Aiello will continue serving as Acting District Attorney during the recruitment and appointment process.

Under California law, the Board of Supervisors is responsible for appointing an individual to serve the remainder of the term through January 8, 2029. Eligible candidates must be registered voters of Yolo County at the time of appointment and hold an active license with the California State Bar.

The Board directed staff to move forward with a recruitment process designed to provide an opportunity for qualified candidates to apply while maintaining continuity in the operations of the District Attorney’s Office.

The process includes a two-week recruitment period, supplemental application questions, an initial qualification review by County leadership and Human Resources staff, and public interviews anticipated during the June 23 Board of Supervisors meeting, with formal appointment action expected following interviews. Applications submitted through the recruitment process will be treated as public records in accordance with California law, with personal contact information redacted as required.

Information regarding the recruitment process and application materials will be made available on the Yolo County’s online job portal, www.GovernmentJobs.com/Careers/YoloCoCA and future Board meeting agendas will be posted on the Yolo County Board of Supervisors Meeting Agenda & Minutes at www.YoloCounty.gov/BoardAgenda.
