Workforce Innovation Board Seeks Members

WOODLAND, CA (MPG) - The Yolo County Workforce Innovation Board (WIB) is seeking local business representatives to join its 23-member board, which is charged with convening partners and providing policy, planning and oversight for local and regional workforce development initiatives under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). 

The WIB is a partnership of business, labor, education, non-profit, government and community leaders working together to anticipate business needs and facilitate training, education and career path opportunities which fulfill both employer and job seeker needs. Members represent the four incorporated Yolo County cities of Davis, West Sacramento, Winters and Woodland.

The following are Workforce Innovation Board member qualifications:

Desire to make a positive impact on the quality of life in the community.

Commitment to devote time and talent in partnering with other organizations to improve the quality of the workforce through public policy.

Interest in learning how board activities can make a difference in the business climate for both the community and your organization.

Hold senior decision-making authority within your organization.

Experience and/or knowledge that allows members to contribute in one or more of the following key areas: evaluation, training, program development, policy administration, finance, personnel planning, human resource administration, or public relations.

Ability to participate in and regularly attend board meetings. Meetings are held in person, bi-monthly on the second Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), 25 North Cottonwood St. in Woodland.
