Beavers Swim to a Pair of Records

SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) - The American River College Men's Swim and Dive team opened the season on Jan. 31, by setting two new NorCal Relay Records at a swim meet at Los Positas College in Livermore.

First, the Beavers set a record in the 200 Medley Relay (Branson, Pitzer, Long, Tyspan 1:36.41) and then in the 200 Free Relay (Pitzer, Long, Tyspan, Branson in 1:26.57).   

In addition to these wins, the men's pair of divers, Juda Ortega and Caden Rutan won both 1-meter & 3-meter diving.

The men's team swam a double dual to open the season vs. Las Positas and Mt. Sac. The men's team was 1-1 with a win over Las Positas and narrow loss to Mt Sac. The men's team returns sophomore All Americans Cayden Pitzer, Gar Long, John Branson and is supported by a strong freshman class including Davyd Tyspan, Josh Sayo, Shane Carter and Caden Rutan. 

On Friday Feb. 7, the Los Rios Invite meet was held, with swimming hosted at Sac City College and dive at American River College. Results were not available by press time.
