WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Tower Bridge Gateway, which runs between Jefferson Boulevard, past Sutter Health Park to the Tower Bridge is now officially named Cabaldon Parkway.
The city celebrated the renaming with a street sign unveiling on Nov. 6 to honor former Mayor Christopher Cabaldon's leadership, which spans 22 years. Cabaldon was first elected to the West Sacramento City Council in 1996 and served as mayor from 1998 to 2020.

“Cabaldon is credited with leading the city through a period of rapid growth and prosperity,” said City of West Sacramento public information officer Paul Hosley.
Among the many milestones under Cabaldon's watch, he helped recruit the River Cats to move to West Sacramento and transformed the site of old warehouses and rail yards along the river into the emerging Bridge District with Raley Field as its anchor. The Bridge District is now home to apartments, condos, office buildings and restaurants, including the local favorite Drake's the Barn.

Cabaldon was also instrumental in developing the Civic Complex along West Capital Avenue featuring the construction of City Hall and the Community Center. An avid bicyclist, Cabaldon was also a champion of expanding the city's trail system.
