West Sacramento Offers Fun for Seniors

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - If you are 50 plus and yearn for a variety of activities, come join in the fun at the West Sacramento Community Center and participate in the Active Aging programs.
“We are the heart of the West Sacramento senior community and a gathering place where friendships are formed and where independence is encouraged. Membership is required,” according to the City of West Sacramento news release.
Activities
Scrapbooking is from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesdays every other month (August, October, December and so forth) for $2. Register in advance and bring your scrapbooks and supplies to join others who also enjoy this hobby. Colored paper is provided.
Adult Coloring is from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays for $2. Enjoy this fun time activity and relax with your peers as you color pages and share ideas. While materials will be provided, you can bring your own materials.
Exercise with Rose and Rita from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The class is free to registered members and is designed for seniors of all fitness levels. This high energy and low impact class uses bands and resistance.
Scrabble starts at 2 p.m. on the first and third Fridays of the month and is free to registered members. The objective is to create as many words as possible by placing letter tiles on the board to create words.
Brain Booster, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays, is also free to members who register in advance. Challenge your long-term and short-term memories with mentally-challenging activities, including word games and trivia.
Free morning chair exercise from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. every Monday, Thursday and Friday is for registered members who want to begin the day with movement. Join the group and participate in a DVD driven, low-impact chair exercise class.
Another free class is Knit, Crochet and Sewing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday for registered members. Bring your own supplies. The class is not instructor-led but a fun social group where participants share tips and tricks. All string work is welcomed.
