WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - River City High School has earned a Career Choices gold medal in recognition of their implementation of the nationally acclaimed Get Focused…Stay Focused! ® curriculum.

The honor, awarded by curriculum publisher Academic Innovations, is reserved for the top schools in the country who are dedicated to promoting student success, college and career readiness, post-secondary completion and successful skilled entry into the workforce.

“We love recognizing hardworking and talented educators across the country, but the real winners are the students and their communities,” said Mindy Bingham, author of the Career Choices series curriculum and CEO of Academic Innovations. “Thanks to the efforts of these dedicated teachers and administrators, students are set up for long-term success with meaningful 10-year plans to guide them toward achieving their career and life goals.”

River City High is a shining example of student success, exceeding state averages and standards in test scores and graduation rate, according to the curriculum publisher.

“Utilizing the Career Choices curriculum in our Building Foundations for Success program has allowed us to empower our young people to reflect on who they are, empower them to decide on what they want, and guide them toward figuring out their plans on how to get it,” said department chair for the program, Marlaina Spivey. “Winning this Gold Medal rewards the hard work and determination of the staff and students!”

This is River City High’s eighth year achieving gold medal status. The school is at 1 Raider Lane in West Sacramento.
