Free Tire Recycling Event in Esparto
Mar 11, 2024 05:23PM ● By County of Yolo News ReleaseYOLO COUNTY (MPG) – On March 13, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Yolo County will be hosting a free tire recycling event at the Esparto Convenience Center located at 27075 County Road 19A, north of Esparto. Yolo County residents are encouraged to participate in this event by disposing of up to 9 used passenger vehicle, truck, or tractor tires free of charge. This event is made possible by a grant from the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle).
Previously, the Yolo County Department of Community Services’ Integrated Waste Management Division successfully collected 4,548 tires as part of this grant. Staff are hopeful to recycle an additional 5,000 tires before the conclusion of the grant cycle. Residents are urged to contribute to this environmental cause by responsibly disposing of tires this Wednesday.
Event Guidelines
• Each residential load is limited to a maximum of 9 tires. For further inquiries, please contact Yolo County’s Recycling Coordinator at (530) 666-8856.
• Accepted tires include all passenger vehicle and truck tires, regardless of whether they have rims, and provided they are air-filled with no solid areas. Tractor tires with rims will not be accepted.
• Tires from tractors or heavy equipment with a diameter exceeding 60”, track tires, business-generated tires, or bins or trailers filled with tires will not be accepted. On-site staff will be available to measure and reject these loads.
• Farmers and ranchers seeking to dispose of tires may contact Yolo County Environmental Health at (530) 666-8646 to obtain a one-day hauler permit, enabling the transport of up to 20 tires per vehicle, with a maximum limit of 40 tires per participant.
