Climate Action and Adaptation Plan in Community Conversations
Nov 08, 2023 02:30PM ● By Yolo County News ReleaseYOLO COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The Yolo County Sustainability Program is excited to announce the second round of community workshops, the Community Conversation Series. This series facilitates valuable input from the public for the development of the update to Yolo County’s 2030 Climate Action and Adaptation Plan.
In 2020, the Yolo County Board of Supervisors set the goal of achieving a carbon-negative footprint by 2030, with a focus on equity and justice. The Climate Action and Adaptation Plan serves as a roadmap that outlines the actions which Yolo County will undertake to attain this goal, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance Yolo County’s capacity to withstand the impacts of climate change. Informed by extensive public input, the plan will include recommendations aimed at reducing emissions, safeguarding natural resources, increasing the utilization of renewable energy, supporting the flourishing sustainable agricultural practices already established in Yolo County, and more. The Climate Action and Adaptation Plan is designed to benefit all members of the community and foster health, equity, and resilience throughout all its stages and outcomes.
As part of the process of updating the County Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, community members and community-based organizations are encouraged to participate in one of seven upcoming Community Conversation sessions. During these sessions, residents of Yolo County will have the opportunity to engage in conversations with their neighbors and share their vision for a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable community.
