Yolo County Offering Funding for Dislocated Workers

WOODLAND, CA (MPG) - The Yolo County Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) Program is helping dislocated workers by providing funding for vocational training to help with job training and vocational certifications. Yolo County residents impacted by the Yellow Transportation layoffs in West Sacramento or other layoffs countywide are encouraged to take advantage of the free skills training opportunity.

The WIOA Program has relationships with eligible training providers to support dislocated workers with receiving training. Current vocational schools include: AAA Academy; Asher College; Cal-Trade Welding; California Human Development; Campus; Charles A. Jones Career and Education Center; Colusa County Office of Education; Curam College; Dronitek Flight Academy; Elk Grove Adult and Community Education; Fair Oaks Massage Institute; I-Tap; MTS Training Academy; National Career Education; New Horizons; Portnov Computer School; Security and Firearms Training Academy; UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education; Western Truck School and Western Pacific Truck School.

The WIOA Program offers dislocated workers residing in Yolo County:

Funding of up to $7,000 for eligible training and education programs; Leads on employment opportunities and events; Career and interview preparation; Referrals to support services

*Must meet eligibility requirements

Some eligibility requirements include:

Adults (must be 18 years of age or older); Living in Yolo County and laid off from an employer in the surrounding area; Laid off from a Yolo County employer

Must be registered for the Selective Service* (or have a documented exemption)
